Intraware can help Social Network based offerings control content through self-regulated entitlements
The buzz of Web 2.0 is largely centered on social networking sites, where communities are formed on the Internet by people with common interests. Most of these online communities are publicly available-encouraging anyone to join-and have few restrictions on who can create or view any of the content. Adoption of social networking sites has transformed the Internet beyond email and static web pages into a mainstream vehicle for dynamic communication and self presentation. The user interface styles of Web 2.0 and the functional elements of a social network site - blogs, file sharing, and personal profiles - have become the standard web experience of the newest generation of Internet users.
Two of the sites that we provide ourselves are
zAthlete is a social networking community designed for athletes, recruiters, coaches, parents and fans of competitive sports. zAthlete provides an online, interactive forum for individuals who are passionate about athletics and enables members to:
The zAthlete social network allows members to control who may access their private data and ensures that all interactions between members, such as video and other file sharing, are secure and received only by those to whom they are intended. It also allows upload and playback of high quality videos, of any size. zAthlete membership is open to everyone thirteen years of age and older with a valid email address.

Digital Fastball is a free, general purpose, digital delivery service. It showcases the primary benefits of our entitlement-based APIs, including fast file uploading and downloading, content organization by subscription or project, email notification to those who are entitled when new products become available, and an always-available repository for recipients. Digital Fastball is used for personal file delivery, collaboration within companies, transfer of files between a company and its customers, and as a delivery vehicle for valuable content.
The graphic below shows the services available to social networking sites, which are used by Intraware's destination sites. The entitlement management layer ensures that all transactions are secured and are received only by those to whom they are intended.
Although social networking sites work well for non-sensitive information presented to a broad audience, they do not address the needs of communities where content is private or the desired recipients are a targeted group. Consider the following relationships: athletes and scouts, teachers and students, actors and production companies, doctors and patients, attorneys and clients. Great efficiencies could be gained if there were a way to blend user friendly Web 2.0 features with the ability to control access to information and to have a central location that stores all of the content that each participant is uniquely allowed to see.
Intraware offers a set of entitlement-based services that can enhance social networking sites by allowing users to control private data, transfer of files of any kind, and create targeted communications within their communities. Intraware's web services interfaces conform to the latest Internet standards for integration, so they can be called from any Internet site. As the long-standing leader in enterprise software and license delivery, we now offer our core entitlement-based technology and delivery networks to other markets, while providing the security and robust features our customers expect.
