INTRAWARE ANNOUNCES ENHANCED DIGITAL FASTBALL SERVICE ON A FREE TRIAL BASIS

ORINDA, Calif., - October 5, 2006 - Intraware®, Inc. [NASDAQ: ITRA], leading provider of electronic software and license delivery and management solutions for enterprise technology companies, today announced it has released the latest version of Digital Fastball, a delivery and file management service for professionals or consumers who create digital content. Intraware is offering the service free until the end of 2006. Companies and individuals wishing to try the service, can go to www.digitalfastball.com, to register.

"We've been collaborating for months to develop an enhanced version of Digital Fastball, and we're thrilled with what we've been able to accomplish," said Peter Jackson, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President. "What is so exciting about Digital Fastball is that it enables anyone to deliver virtually any type of file instantly, securely and in way that can significantly reduce costs and improve user satisfaction."

Based upon proven technology from Intraware, the new version of Digital Fastball features a streamlined delivery user interface and creates an always-available web site with all of the files that the sender delivers. File senders can add, change, or remove files they have already sent to a recipient's web site, instantly keeping it up to date. The site makes it easy for clients or others to retrieve the files. Intraware has also integrated next-generation transfer technology from Aspera to provide fast uploads and downloads. With this new technology, Digital Fastball can handle very large, gigabyte files.

"Since Marlin Studios began using Digital Fastball for digital delivery of our CD-Rom products to worldwide customers, we have reduced the cost and hassles with physical shipping," said Tom Marlin, president of Marlin Studios. "But most importantly, we can deliver to customers who need our computer graphics products now. That fact alone has increased our sales and reduced shipping costs. With Digital Fastball, customers working on short deadlines anywhere in the world can get their products in a matter of minutes, rather than waiting a week or more."

What Makes Digital Fastball Different?

There are many ways to send files, but Digital Fastball differs:

  • From Email: because it eliminates the problems of emailing large files and the ad-hoc, unorganized nature of email
  • From File Sharing technology: because it provides entitlement-based control over who can receive the files
  • From Internet Backup services: because it is focused on delivery, and makes it easier for others to receive files
  • From other Web Delivery services: because it handles very large files; it can deliver multiple files to multiple recipients in one step; and it incorporates faster transfer technology.
Digital Fastball also differs fundamentally from many file-sharing services that use peer-to-peer networks. It utilizes centralized, managed cache servers. It allows users to control entitlements and track downloads of their files. And, not only can Digital Fastball senders control and monitor who is downloading their digital content, but the service also has built-in safeguards against tampering with and unauthorized forwarding of files.
