INTRAWARE'S LICENSE KEY DELIVERY AND MANAGEMENT SERVICES ADOPTED BY IBM RATIONAL
ORINDA, Calif. - November 28, 2005 - Intraware, Inc. [NASDAQ: ITRA], a leading provider of digital delivery and management services, today announced that IBM will utilize Intraware's SubscribeNet License Key Management service in delivering license keys to customers of IBM Rational software development tools, providing customers greater visibility into their software license keys.
SubscribeNet's online license key delivery and management service will help customers track and manage their license keys for IBM Rational tools across their organization, all with a common user interface employing authentication features. The SubscribeNet services will be implemented by IBM Rational by mid-2006.
Intraware also announced that it will transition to IBM WebSphere software, including WebSphere Application Server. WebSphere software will enable Intraware to effectively plan, build, deploy and manage its service, including service oriented architectures (SOAs). This can provide a comprehensive software infrastructure for Intraware, enabling fast and efficient delivery of enhancements to Intraware's flagship product -- SubscribeNet. Additionally, WebSphere software is expected to provide Intraware with an unparalleled and comprehensive infrastructure for monitoring and managing Intraware's hosted application environment.
"Intraware's SubscribeNet service will help customers easily deploy IBM Rational's tools across their development teams, regardless of size or location," said Beth Friday, Vice President of Customer Support, IBM Rational. "This enables our customers to spend more time using the IBM Rational Software Development Platform to create and integrate the software applications that run their businesses, and less time managing their license keys."
"Standardizing on WebSphere Application Server provides Intraware with a powerful platform to build and deploy innovative software that better meets the needs of our customers," said Peter Jackson, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Intraware. "Intraware is also very proud to have been selected to provide such an important service to IBM Rational software. For many enterprise technology companies, license key delivery and management is more challenging than software delivery. IBM's selection of the Intraware solution continues to strengthen our leadership in providing license key delivery and management services."
About Intraware's License Management Module
The License Key Management Service is part of Intraware's License Management Module. "The License Management module provides software publishers with an effective solution to manage complex licensing models, including proprietary technologies and algorithms," said Paul Martinelli, Intraware's Chief Technology Officer. "This module also automates many licensing management functions, which reduces the publisher's support burden while providing the publisher's customer with an easy, self-service way to manage their licenses."
Available as an add-on or standalone service within the SubscribeNet platform, Intraware's License Management module enables software publishers to use a set of reusable license templates to establish licensing rules across their entire product catalog. License templates can be reused for all products that operate under a common license model. Additionally, the license templates can support different licensing technologies, allowing the License Management module to generate licenses in a consistent manner for end users regardless of whether one or many license management technologies are used on the back-end. This is especially helpful to the typical software developer that possesses a combination of home-grown and third-party licensing technologies accumulated through acquisitions and disparate product development.
Equally important, the SubscribeNet License Management module provides software publisher customers with the tools to manage their entire licensing lifecycle. A single web interface enables the end user to download software and generate all electronic licenses required to activate and run a new product purchase. As new versions of the product are made available, the end user returns to the same web interface to download software updates and generate new licenses. The License Management module also allows users to return or re-host electronic licenses that have been previously generated. User activity is captured and available to the software publisher through license compliance reporting.
